Asia e University (AeU) is a global digital university based in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. The university offers flexible learning options, including full-time on-campus, blended learning and fully online study, allowing students to pursue their education according to their location and circumstances.

AeU was initiated through the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) as part of efforts to expand access to higher education and promote e-Education across Asia. The proposal to establish AeU was accepted at the 4th ACD Ministerial Meeting in Islamabad in 2005, while the implementation of the proposed university received further support at the 5th ACD Ministerial Meeting in Doha in 2006.

Asia e University (AeU), also known as Asia e University Malaysia, was launched as a Malaysian project to develop e-Education and enhance the reach of higher education throughout Asia. Its development was initiated through the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD). After an ACD Workshop on e-Education in Malaysia in 2004 and a subsequent workshop in 2005, Malaysia brought forward the initiative to create Asia e University at the 4th ACD Ministerial Meeting held in Islamabad, Pakistan, in April 2005. The proposal was approved, envisioning AeU as a different tool for cooperating in education, expanding educational access and bridging the digital divide in Asia.

The project advanced at the 5th ACD Ministerial Meeting held in Doha, Qatar, in May 2006, where ACD governments expressed support for the establishment of the university. The Malaysian Government gave its approval to establish AeU in December 2006 under the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 and subsequently established the university in 2007. Currently, Asia e University Malaysia positions itself as both a collaborative multinational university and an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) university that offers flexible modes of academic and professional learning through collaborative partnerships across Asia.

According to the Asia e University Malaysia student handbook, the merit scholarship is available at 100% when awarded to eligible students, meaning that the top students according to their marks or fulfilling the other requirements will get this scholarship.
• Student Loyalty Scheme: There is a 10% waiver in tuition fees for Malaysian and foreign students who enroll in a new programme immediately after finishing a previous programme, as per the relevant terms and conditions.
• Senior Citizen Discount: Malaysian students who have attained the age of 60 years old will be given a 50% tuition-fee waiver, according to the university’s terms and conditions.
• Disabled Students Discount: With certain conditions applicable, disabled students from Malaysia can receive up to a 75% tuition-fee discount.
• EPF Withdrawal: Malaysian students may apply for EPF withdrawal for eligible programmes and under eligible situations.
• PTPTN LOAN: Some selected programmes are funded by PTPTN, and eligible undergraduate programmes are available for PTPTN loans for Malaysian students according to PTPTN requirements.

Asia e University (AeU) welcomes applicants from different educational backgrounds. Since admission requirements vary by programme, international students should check the requirements for their chosen programme before applying. AeU also recognises prior learning and work experience through its APEL system where applicable.

1. Check Eligibility for Your Programme

International applicants must meet the academic requirements of their selected programme.

For Bachelor's Programmes:

• STPM / A-Level or equivalent: Minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in two subjects for programmes such as Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons).
• STAM: Minimum Grade Jayyid.
• UEC: Minimum Grade B in five subjects.
• Matriculation / Foundation: Minimum CGPA 2.00.
• Diploma / Advanced Diploma: A recognised qualification may be accepted, with specific programmes setting additional CGPA requirements.
• Other recognised equivalent qualifications may also be considered.
• Certain programmes have additional requirements. For example, applicants to the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Graphic Design from a non-Art background must pass an interview and drawing test.

For Master's Programmes:

• Applicants generally need a recognised Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• For example, the Master of Business Administration requires a Bachelor's degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.50. Applicants with a CGPA of 2.50 may be considered with at least five years of relevant work experience.
• Some programmes have higher academic requirements. For example, the Master of Information & Communication Technology Management requires a Bachelor's degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75, while applicants with CGPA 2.50–2.74 may be considered through a strict internal assessment process.

For Doctoral Programmes:

• Applicants generally need a recognised Master's degree or another recognised equivalent qualification.
• PhD applicants must also submit a statement of research intent and a CV or resume.
• The research proposal must receive approval where stipulated by the programme.
• For PhD in ICT, at least one previous degree (Master's or Bachelor's) must be in computing or a related field.

2. Meet the English Language Requirements

International students must meet the English Language Competency Requirement applicable to their programme.

AeU also lists recognised alternatives for selected programmes, including TOEFL, Pearson Test of English (PTE), Cambridge English qualifications and MUET. Applicants whose tertiary education was conducted in English may normally be exempt from the stated English-language requirement where applicable.

3. Prepare the Required Documents

For a new international student application and student-pass process, AeU's official guidance lists the following documents:

• Original or copy of the Letter of Offer
• Passport-size photograph with a white background, 35 mm × 45 mm
• Passport copy, including the biodata page, pages containing visa information, and the observation page, where applicable
• Passport with a recommended minimum validity of 12 months
• Academic transcripts and relevant certificates
• Pre-arrival Medical Examination Report, where applicable, including laboratory and chest X-ray reports; documents should be completed in English
• Personal Bond Form, submitted by the institution according to the EMGS requirements
• No-Objection Certificate (NOC) or Letter of Eligibility (LOE) where applicable for students from Sudan or Iran, respectively.

For airport arrival and first entry into Malaysia, AeU's official guidance advises students to carry certified copies of high-school/degree certificates and transcripts, eight passport-sized colour photographs with a white background, the original pre-arrival medical report, a passport with a minimum 12-month validity, and the original Letter of Offer.

4. Apply for the Student Pass and Visa

International students studying full-time and on campus in Malaysia need to complete the applicable student-pass and visa procedures. AeU's process is subject to approval by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and the relevant Malaysian authorities.

Before travelling to Malaysia, students should obtain their Visa Approval Letter (VAL). AeU states that the Student Pass is valid for one year and can be renewed while the student remains enrolled at AeU.

5. Complete Medical Screening in Malaysia

New international students are required to attend post-arrival medical screening at a panel clinic in Malaysia within seven days of arrival. AeU notes that failure to complete the in-country screening can affect the Student Pass endorsement process.

6. Arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport

For students entering Malaysia for the first time, AeU's airport-pickup procedure requires students to inform the Student & Alumni Affairs Department at least 10 days before departure and provide their departure and arrival details, flight number, and airline information.

At KLIA1, an AeU officer receives the student and assists with immigration clearance. Students must have their passport, copy of the eVAL, and original Letter of Offer ready at the immigration counter.

7. Complete Registration and Begin Your Studies

After completing the applicable immigration and arrival procedures, students can proceed with their enrolment and academic registration at Asia e University Malaysia. The university provides international students with guidance throughout the preparation and arrival process.

AeU states that its published entry requirements serve as guidelines and that applicants are responsible for verifying the requirements with the university's Admission Unit before applying. Requirements can differ between programmes, particularly for academic qualifications, English proficiency, and additional programme-specific assessments.
