Overview of Master of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in KPJ Healthcare University College Malaysia
The Master of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Program is the first medical specialist training programme at KPJUC. It provides candidates with the opportunity to be trained in the management and treatment of a wide variety of ENT diseases in 6 accredited KPJ Specialist hospitals. This 4-year programme follows the UKM/UM/USM conjoint curriculum. The programme provides an innovative competency-based education programme featuring one-to-one, hands-on apprenticeship, supervised by a group of dedicated and experienced KPJ ENT consultants. The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia is our collaborator in the curriculum design and assessment to ensure a high quality training programme.
Programme Structure

The programme follows the general standard set by the Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Conjoint Board
A Full Time 4 year programme with rotations at accredited KPJ Specialist Hospitals
Candidates will also be posted to department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Ministry of Health Hospitals and University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) to enhance clinical skills and experience.
Part 1 examination is conducted at University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC).
Candidates will sit for the final National Conjoint Board of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery examination after completion of training.
Candidate are required to submit numbers of case write ups, journal publications, log book and dissertation before final examination.
Entry Requirement
Entry Requirement of Master of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in KPJ Healthcare University College Malaysia
Malaysian Students:
A.University College / Conjoint Board of ENT Criteria
Possess a Medical Degree (MD, MBBS and MBChB) or equivalent qualifications from Universities recognized by the Senate of the University College; and
Must be registered for medical practice by Malaysian Medical Council (MMC); and
At least 2 years of clinical practice (excluding housemanship); and
Pass the written screening examination; and
Performance at interview
B. Ministry of Health Criteria
Possess a Medical Degree (MD, MBBS and MBChB) or equivalent qualifications from Universities recognized by the Senate of the University College; and
Must be registered for medical practice by Malaysian Medical Council (MMC); and
4 years of service with experience outside Kuala Lumpur and major hospital; and
Annual appraisal scores of > 85% for 3 consecutive years; and
Age < 40 years upon starting the programme; and
Free disciplinary actions; and
No record of rejecting the offer to enroll in the programme previously.
International Students:
International candidates must have a valid Annual Practicing Certificate from the country of origin and a Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC) from Malaysian Medical Council (MMC)
Proficient in the English Language: TOEFL score of 750 or IELTS grade 7 or an equivalent International English Competency test
Financial guarantee od scholarship
At least 2 years of working experience after internship at the time of entry into the programme
