Programme Overview
This program is centered towards meeting the much-anticipated growing demand for professionals with expertise in the emerging Industry Revolution 4.0, specifically in the area of the Internet of Things (IoT). The program is designed to focus on the higher-end of the IoT ecosystem stacks; namely Computing & Storage, Apps & Services, and Analytics. In the program, the students will be exposed to IoT infrastructure, device integration, applications and data analytics. The program also offers some value-added components such as certification and industrialmanship.
CAREER PROSPECTS
The market survey as revealed from the National IoT Strategic Roadmap indicates that the implementation of Internet of Things would contribute to RM9.5 billion (US$2.5 billion at current rates) to the country’s gross national income (GNI) by 2020, and RM42.5 billion (US$11.2 billion) by 2025. Based on the anticipated size of business related to the IoT technology locally and globally, it is expected that employability opportunity in this field of technology is really convincing. The expertise in the IoT design, IoT development and implementation of innovative applications and products for the IR 4.0 revolution will be very in need. Graduates from this program will be able to undertake roles such as IoT developer, IoT architect, IoT solution engineer, Data Analyst and IoT consultant
Pass in STPM and other equivalent qualification with at least grade C in 2 subjects and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
Pass in Matriculation / Foundation studies or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
Pass in UniKL Foundation in Science and Technology with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
Pass in International Baccalaureate (IB) with minimum of 24 points; OR
Diploma in Computer Science OR Software Engineering OR Information Technology OR Information Systems OR Multimedia or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 (candidate with CGPA between 2.00 and 2.50 may be admitted subject to internal assessment process) and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
Any other Diploma in Science and technology or business studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent.
For international students, TOEFL score of 500 or IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent is required. If these criteria are not met, PPT must offer English language proficiency courses to ensure that students’ proficiency is adequate to meet program requirements. This is usually done through certain assessment process.
