Overview of Doctor of Philosophy(Engineering) in DRB-HICOM University Malaysia Malaysia

The university provides research facilities and services for postgraduate students including an experienced pool of academic staff. The students will be facilitated to do research in a variety of engineering topics based on their interest and aims such as automotive, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, material and much more.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

The objectives of the programme are to prepare individuals to be

PE01 Have thorough understanding of classical and modern theories, methodologies, practices and their implications in the selected topics of research;
PE02 Have experimental knowledge and analytical abilities to solve current issues and problems in the relevant field of Engineering Technology;
PE03 Have relevant skills of research and apply them efficiently and effectively to suit various types of societal needs;
PE04 Keep abreast of current issues and technological advancements in Engineering Technology taking into account relevant commercial, ethical, social and legal issues;
PE05 Publish their research in the relevant fields of Engineering Technology, and disseminate its knowledge, truth and benefits to the entire world;
PE06 Be future leaders who are knowledgeable and competent in their chosen fields of study.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO)

At the end of this programme, students should be able to

PLO1 Apply practical skills in the Engineering Technology;
PLO2 Adapt practical skills leading towards innovative ideas in the Engineering Technology;
PLO3 Provide professional services to society in the Engineering Technology;
PLO4 Conduct research independently and adhere to the legal, ethical and professional code of practice in the Engineering Technology;
PLO5 Communicate and work effectively with peers, scholarly communities and stakeholders, while displaying leadership qualities;
PLO6 Appraise problems in the relevant field critically using scientific skills;
PLO7 Integrate information to develop lifelong learning in the relevant field;
PLO8 Contribute on original research that has broadened the boundary of knowledge through an in-depth thesis, which has been presented and defended according to the international standards including writing in internationally refereed publications.
