DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia was established on 2 April 2010 as International College of Automotive (ICAM) with only 42 students from the DRB-HICOM Berhad subsidiary companies’ employees to begin with and became a full-fledged university in October 2015. DRB-HICOM U is owned by HICOM University College Sdn. Bhd (HUCSB), a subsidiary wholly owned by DRB-HICOM Berhad. The university is located on 42-acre land within the DRB-HICOM Automotive Complex in Pekan, Pahang.
The university’s tagline “University by the industry, for the industry", DRB-HICOM is committed to produce skilled professionals to join the workforce and to educate and upgrade the skills and knowledge of DRB Group's staff through a curriculum that blends theory with the practical. Currently, the university offers more than 50 programmes, including foundation, diploma, degree, master and PhD studies, all of which are conducted mainly through two faculties and one school: the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Faculty of Business & Management, and School of Foundation and Interdisciplinary Study.
DRB-HICOM is the largest fully integrated automotive corporation in the country and is involved in numerous automotive supply chain activities which include manufacturing of automotive components, vehicle assembly and distribution, after-sales support and services and vehicle inspection. The companies within the DRB-HICOM Group have collaborated with international automotive players such as Audi, Honda, Isuzu, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen.
- DRB-HICOM U offers various subspecialties in the automotive community such as Automotive Management System (DMS), Vehicle Assembly Management (DVA), Vehicle Inspection (DVI), Automotive Technology (DAT), Automotive Parts Management (DPM), Automotive Retail Management (DRM) and Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) with accreditation by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
- DRB-HICOM U cultivates holistic and integrated learning modules with the assistance of subject matter experts and industry professionals, both locally and internationally. The expansive programmes offered are aligned with the most current industry demands and its ever-evolving standards.
- DRB-HICOM U’s campus is situated on a 42-acre site in Pekan, Pahang near the DRB-HICOM Automotive Complex, this ensures that the teaching and learning process can be more efficacious and implemented in a more promotive environment.
