Overview of Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical) With Hons. in University of Malaysia Pahang UMP Malaysia

The Program of Engineering Technology (Electrical) with Honours aims to produce electrical engineering technologists with advance standing of the needed knowledge and expertise to serve industrial needs, to produce engineering technologists with skills of acquiring knowledge in pursuit of lifelong learning for human development, to prepare engineering technologists with excellent soft-skill and professional ethics that suit local and global society and to prepare engineering technologists with good professional ethics and conducts. This program is delivered to undergraduate students in a day-type format. It should be noted that each semester has several of the theoretical and/or Laboratory courses are offered during the day hours face to face mode. Student will gain an understanding of electrical and electronics circuit analyses, analog and digital electronics, electrical machines and power systems, electronics communication systems, control systems, manufacturing based electrical and electronics knowledges and more. Students will also develop the skills in hardwares (electrical, electronic and/or computer-based component) and software (systems for application) designs and implementation which will be needed to work in cutting-edge, high-technology fields, including electrical and electronics and embedded systems. This program will also equip students with professional skills to enhance employability.

PO1 Engineering Knowledge Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and engineering technology principles to define and applied engineering technology procedures, processes, systems or methodologies in electrical engineering technology area.
PO2 Problem Analysis Solve broadly-defined engineering technology problems systematically to reach substantiated conclusions by using appropriate tools and techniques in electrical engineering technology field.
PO3 Design of Solutions Design solutions for broadly-defined electrical engineering technology problems, and to design systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, as well as cultural, societal, environmental and sustainability concerns.
PO4 Investigation Plan and conduct experimental investigations of broadly-defined engineering technology problems by using data from relevant sources.
PO5 Modern Tool Usage Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering technology tools, with an understanding of their limitations.
PO6 Engineering & Society Demonstrate an awareness of and consideration for societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and their consequent responsibilities.
PO7 Environment & Sustainability Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of technical practices, taking into account the need for sustainable development.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • STPM HOLDERS

Have Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / equivalent with credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or credit in Malay / Bahasa Malaysia paper in July and pass the subjects of history began in 2013;

and

Pass the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Examination with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a minimum of:

  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) General Studies subjects;

and

  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects.

and

Obtained at least Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

AND

SPECIAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Obtained at least Grade C (2.00) at STPM level in the following subjects;

  • Mathematics T ; dan
  • Chemistry / Physics / Biology

and

Candidates who do NOT meet the requirements of Physics at STPM level must get at least credit in Physics at SPM level.

and

Candidates are not color blind and do NOT have physical / limb disabilities that make practical work difficult.

Note:

Candidates who do not take Physics at the STPM level are required to take Basic Physics subjects at the University.

  • MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION HOLDERS

Have Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / equivalent with credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or credit in Malay / Bahasa Malaysia paper in July and pass the subjects of history began in 2013;

and

Passed KPM Matriculation / UM Science Foundation / UiTM Foundation with at least CGPA 2.00;

and

Obtained at least Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

AND

SPECIAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Obtained at least Grade C (2.00) at the Matriculation / Foundation level in the following subjects;

  • Mathematics / Engineering Mathematics ; dan
  • Chemistry / Engineering Chemistry / Physics / Engineering Physics / Biology / Civil Engineering Studies / Mechanical Engineering Studies / Electrical & Electronic Engineering Studies / Basic Engineering

and

Candidates who do NOT meet the requirements of Physics at the Matriculation / Foundation level should get at least credit in Physics at SPM level.

and

Candidates are not color blind and do NOT have physical / limb disabilities that make practical work difficult.

Note:

Candidates who do not take Physics at the Matriculation / Foundation level are required to take Basic Physics subjects at the University.

  • DIPLOMA HOLDERS

Have Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / equivalent with credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or credit in Malay / Bahasa Malaysia paper in July and pass the subjects of history;

and

Possess a Diploma or other qualification recognized as equivalent by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the University Senate;

and

Obtained at least Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

AND

SPECIAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Possess a Diploma in a related field from a Public University (UA) / Private Institution of Higher Learning (IPTS) / Polytechnic with a minimum Gathering Average (CPA / CGPA) 2.00

and

Candidates are not color blind and do NOT have physical / limb disabilities that make practical work difficult.

Note:

The year of admission and the actual period of study are subject to credit exemption approved by the Faculty.

  • IPTS FOUNDATION HOLDERS

Memliliki Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / equivalent with credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or credit in Malay / Bahasa Malaysia paper in July and passed a course in history at least grade E;

and

Passed IPTS Foundation (UniKL / UNITEN / UTP / MMU) with at least CGPA 2.00;

and

Obtained at least Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

AND

SPECIAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Obtained at least Grade C at the IPTS Foundation level (UniKL / UNITEN / UTP / MMU) in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry / Physics / Biology

and

Obtained at least Grade C at SPM level in the following subjects;

  • Additional Mathematics
  • Physics / Chemistry

Candidates who do not take Physics at the Basic level should get at least credit in Physics at SPM level.

and

Candidates are not color blind and do NOT have physical / limb disabilities that make practical work difficult.

Note:

Candidates who do not take Physics at the IPTS Foundation level (UniKL / UNITEN / UTP / MMU) are required to take Basic Physics subjects at the University.
