Overview of Diploma in Mechatronic Engineering in Quest International University Perak Malaysia
Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field of engineering that integrates mechanics, electronics, computer science and control theory. This programme is designed to expose students to the principles and practice of mechatronics. The syllabus focuses mainly on the delivery of principles and practices that integrates disciplines in mechanical and electronic engineering, as well as computing. Students will also acquire work skills and develop a broad understanding and knowledge of the engineering industry. Compulsory industrial training is incorporated into the syllabus to make the graduates industry-ready upon completion of their diploma programme. Upon completion of the programme, graduates can work as technicians, assistant engineers, research and development assistants, technical representatives and production technicians in the field of manufacturing, process & control industry and robotics industry.
Programme Aims
The programme aims to prepare graduates who possess a command of mechatronic knowledge and hands-on skills required to undertake supervision of a team and troubleshooting in both operation and maintenance within the industrial context.

Apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, mechatronics engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in DK1 to DK4 respectively to wide practical procedures and practices; |

Identify and analyze well-defined mechatronics engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity (DK1 to DK4); |
PLO 3 Design/Development of Solutions |
Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations (DK5); |
PLO 4 Investigation |
Conduct investigations of well-defined problems; locate and search relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements; |
PLO 5 Modern Tool Usage |
Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern mechatronics engineering and IT tools to well-defined engineering problems, with an awareness of the limitations (DK6); |
PLO 6 The Engineer and Society |
Demonstrate knowledge of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to mechatronics engineering technician practice and solutions to well-defined mechatronics engineering problems (DK7); |

Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of mechatronics engineering technician work in the solution of well-defined mechatronics engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts (DK7); |

Students’ abilities are gauged through continuous assessments and final examinations. The continuous assessment component comprises tests / quizzes, mid-term examinations and projects / assignments.
