The Master of Central Banking (MCB) is a year-long residential program designed especially for central bankers. It includes a six-week MIT Sloan Immersion, where MIT Sloan faculty will teach courses emphasizing systems thinking, best practices, innovation and new technologies.

Participants will benefit not only from a curriculum that focuses obsessively on central banking, but also from the intense, hands-on experience of working in teams. They will leave the program with an international network of friends who speak the same language of central banking

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The MCB program seeks outstanding, mature individuals who are capable of thriving in a dynamic, rigorous learning environment with academic and professional standards similar to those of MIT graduate programs. The ideal MCB candidate will have substantial experience working in a central bank and will have been nominated by the central bank.

Applicants need to meet the following minimum requirements, set by the Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia, to be considered for admission:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field from a recognized institution with a minimum 2.75 CGPA on a 4.0 scale. If the CGPA is below 2.75  but above 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, the applicant must have at least 5 years of work experience in relevant fields.
• Proficiency in the English language — applicants must either be native English speakers OR have received a university degree taught in English. If you do not fulfil either of these requirements, you must provide proof of English language proficiency of a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 OR its equivalent.

Applicants are also encouraged to submit scores from a GMAT or GRE exam, which would demonstrate their level of commitment in pursuing MCB studies as well as a level of comfort with quantitative problem-solving.

ADMISISON PROCESS

Online Application
Prospective students complete the application and all necessary components. There is no application fee.

Evaluation
The application is read and reviewed by the Admissions Committee and a decision is made whether the applicant will be invited to interview.

Interview
Successful applicants are invited for an in-person or Skype interview with a member of the Admissions Committee.

Decision
The Admissions Committee decides whether to admit the applicant to the program.
