Although Malaysia does not offer a direct Diploma in Ophthalmology, the closest pathway is through Diploma in Optometry, Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology, or Diploma in Vision Care, which provides essential knowledge and skills related to eye anatomy, visual optics, refraction, eye diseases, and clinical eye care procedures.

Students learn topics such as Ocular Anatomy & Physiology, Refraction & Visual Optics, Contact Lens Practice, Basic Ophthalmic Pharmacology, Ocular Pathology, Vision Screening, Ophthalmic Instruments, and Clinical Practice. The programme also includes practical training in hospitals, eye clinics, optical centres, and ophthalmology diagnostic labs.
