Course Overview

Diploma in Law was first introduced in July 1991 under the School of General Studies at Kolej Agama Sultan Zainal Abidin (KUSZA). The programme gained official recognition from the Department of Public Service Malaysia (JPA) in 1996 and later achieved quality certification (MQA 19737) as well as full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency in 2017 under reference number MQA/FA9664. Offered as a full-time programme, the Diploma in Law spans two and a half years and is structured over six semesters, comprising five regular semesters and one short semester. Industrial training is conducted during the final short semester to provide students with practical exposure to the legal working environment. Teaching and learning activities include lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, presentations, projects, and industrial training. The programme aims to develop graduates with sound legal knowledge, practical skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning. It also emphasizes awareness of the rule of law, social justice, and professional ethics, preparing graduates to serve the legal profession, society, and the nation effectively.

Entry Requirements

SPM (Malaysian Applicants) All of the following requirements must be fulfilled: Applicants must be Malaysian citizens holding a valid Identification Card (MyKad). Possession of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) certificate with a minimum of five (5) credits, including Bahasa Melayu, and a pass in the Sejarah (History) subject in the SPM examination. A minimum of Grade B+ in English Language at the SPM level. A minimum of Grade C+ in one (1) Arabic language–related subject, such as Bahasa Arab or Al-Lughah Al-Arabiah Al-Mu’asirah. A minimum of Grade C+ in one (1) Islamic Studies–related subject, including Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah, Pendidikan Al-Quran dan Al-Sunnah, Pendidikan Islam, Tasawwur Islam, Usul Al-Din, Al-Syariah, Manahij Al-Ulum wa Al-Balaghah, Hifz Al-Quran, or Maharat Al-Quran. A minimum of Grade C in one (1) additional subject, excluding Bahasa Melayu and the subjects listed above. Applicants must be physically fit, with no conditions such as blindness, deafness, or muteness that may affect programme requirements.
