Course Overview

Diploma in Industrial Design at UniSZA prepares students with a strong foundation for a career in the global product design industry. The program begins with core design principles and gradually focuses on aesthetics, functionality, material selection, and manufacturing processes. Students are encouraged to develop innovative solutions that enhance quality of life and address human needs. The curriculum emphasizes problem-solving, conceptual development, and hands-on skills, allowing students to explore the entire design process—from idea generation to building 3D models or prototypes. Practical learning experiences include workshops, design projects, and studio sessions that integrate creativity with technical knowledge. Students also gain insights into manufacturing techniques and marketing strategies, preparing them to translate concepts into market-ready products. Design projects cover diverse areas such as product, furniture, and automotive design, providing students with broad exposure to industry practices. Graduates are equipped with creativity, technical competence, and professional skills to succeed in the competitive design industry.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of Grade C in three (3) subjects at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level. A minimum of Grade C in one (1) relevant subject at the SPM level, including Usul Al-Din, Al-Syariah, Manahij Al-Ulum Al-Islamiah, Al-Adab Wa Al-Balaghah, Hifz Al-Quran, Maharat Al-Quran, Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah, Pendidikan Al-Quran dan Al-Sunnah, Tasawwur Islam, Pendidikan Islam, Pendidikan Moral, Pendidikan Seni Visual, Reka Cipta, Reka Bentuk Industri, or Reka Bentuk Grafik. A minimum of Grade D in English Language at the SPM level. A pass in the interview or submission of a portfolio as required by the university. APEL.A candidates must pass the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL.A) assessment conducted by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for admission consideration.
