Overview

This internationally recognised programme equips you with the knowledge and technical skills for an exciting career in the electrical and electronics industry by employing a problem-based industrial approach to train you to effectively design, build and test electrical and electronics devices.

Graduates of this programme are qualified to continue with a relevant degree programme at Nilai University. Alternatively, graduates can progress to Nilai University’s Advanced Diploma programme, which leads to a dual award of BSc (Hons) from Kingston University, London.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE (PEO)

The programme aims to:

PEO 1 To produce graduates who are knowledgeable and technically competent in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.
PEO 2 To produce graduates who hold leadership positions in their organizations within five years of employment.
PEO 3 To pursue life-long learning by membership in electrical and electronics engineering professional bodies and through participation in continuous professional development (CPD) activities.

PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOME (PLO)

Programme Learning Outcomes describe what students are expected to know and able to perform or attain by the time of graduation. These relate to the skill, knowledge, and behavior that students acquire through the programme. Eleven (11) Programme Learning Outcomes of Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering were identified and they are:

PLO 1 Able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and electrical & electronics engineering fundamentals to well-defined engineering procedures and practices
PLO 2 Able to analyse well-defined electrical & electronics engineering problems in their discipline with respect to operation and maintenance, including troubleshooting
PLO 3 Able to conduct investigations and assist in the design of solutions for electrical & electronics engineering systems
PLO 4 Able to apply appropriate techniques, resources, and engineering tools to well-defined electrical & electronics engineering activities, with an awareness of the limitations
PLO 5 Able to demonstrate an awareness of and consideration for societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and their consequent responsibilities
PLO 6 Able to communicate effectively with the engineering community and society at large
PLO 7 Able to function effectively in a diverse technical team
PLO 8 Able to demonstrate an understanding of professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering practices
PLO 9 Able to demonstrate an awareness of management, business practices and entrepreneurship
PLO 10 Able to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of engineering practices, taking into account the need for sustainable development
