Overview of Bachelor of Science Honours in Psychology in International University of Malaya Wales Malaysia
IUMW’s Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology is concerned with the scientific development of knowledge about human behavior and thought. Intensive analysis training and critical skills are taught with the intent of producing graduates who are competent from every angle.
Our programme integrates research and hands-on expertise to produce high performing professional practitioners ready to take up roles in contemporary health and social sciences practices. Graduates will have the knowledge, skills, techniques and ethics that are relevant in today’s working environment. The programme also produces students who are aware of the sustainable issues that are pertinent in the field of psychology.
With a wide range of applications from industry to commerce, education, health and social services, our bachelor’s degree in psychology can serve as a foundation for a whole variety of different careers.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Malaysian Students
- STPM Grade C (GP 2.00) in any two (2) subjects
- Diploma CGPA of 2.00
- UEC Grade B in five (5) subjects
- Foundation/ Matriculation CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00
- A-LEVEL Pass with Grade D in two subjects
- Australian Matriculation ATAR 65
- International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) 24 points across six subjects
Additional Requirements
Credit in Mathematics AND any Science subject AND minimum pass in English in SPM
NOTES
Specific requirements at SPM level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM / STAM / Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation are equivalent or higher.
International Students
- A Level with 2 Principal passes or equivalent, recognised by Malaysian Government or fulfil any other entry requirements that are recognised by the University Senate; AND
- Minimum Credit in Mathematics AND Physics or Chemistry or Biology or General Science in O Level AND minimum pass in English in O Level; AND
- IELTS Band 5.0/ TOEFL 500
English Competency Requirements
All international students are bound to the English Competency requirement set by the University and the Malaysian Qualification Agency except those who are:
- From countries where English is the official language; OR
- From an academic institution which uses English as its main medium of instruction.
UWTSD Requirements (if you spend a semester abroad)
- IELTS Band 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 for each component

???????ASSESSMENTS
Assessments are both formative and summative, with students presented with multiple opportunities throughout the programme to improve their critical thinking, problem solving, and effective communication skills, while also demonstrating their acquisition of important discipline knowledge. Assessment methods will usually include; quizzes, research reports, presentations, literature reviews, tests, exams, essays, designing experiments, research projects, a research thesis, and one internship.
For MPU, core and elective modules, assessments are 60% assignment based and 40% final examination. For Research Project 1 & 2 and industrial training, assessments are 100% assignment based.
Students are expected to undergo six (6) semesters and one industrial training (12 weeks), which amounts to 125 credit hours
