Course Overview

Curtin Malaysia’s Foundation programs are designed to provide a strong academic pathway into undergraduate study. These intensive and focused courses help students develop the knowledge and skills required for a smooth transition to university-level education. Upon successful completion, students meet the entry requirements for their selected undergraduate degrees, ensuring they are well prepared for future academic challenges. The Foundation in Arts and Commerce offers two structured pathways: Business and Humanities. This program builds essential competencies such as effective communication, critical and analytical thinking, research skills, and the use of technology—key abilities for academic and professional success. The curriculum combines core subjects with specialised units aligned to each pathway, allowing students to gain both theoretical understanding and practical insight. Graduates of this program are well prepared to pursue undergraduate studies in areas such as commerce, business administration, communications, psychological science, and construction management, providing a solid base for long-term academic growth.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the minimum English language entry requirements to be eligible for admission. Accepted English proficiency qualifications include an overall IELTS score of 5.5, with no individual band below 5.0, or a TOEFL score of 65. Applicants may also qualify by achieving a grade B in SPM English or a grade C in GCE O’ Level English. In addition, candidates who have completed SPM with a minimum of five credits, including English, or five credits along with demonstrated English competence, may be considered for entry. Credits towards a Curtin qualification may also be granted to applicants who hold relevant qualifications from other accredited educational institutions, subject to assessment and approval by the university.
