Course Overview

Curtin Malaysia’s Diploma of Information Technology provides a strong foundation in the design, implementation, and management of modern computing systems. The program introduces students to core areas of information technology while developing essential skills in communication, critical thinking, cross-cultural awareness, and lifelong learning. Graduates are prepared for employment across a wide range of industries and may receive advanced standing of up to 200 credits into undergraduate programs such as the Bachelor of Computing or Bachelor of Technology at Curtin Malaysia. In the first year, students focus on building academic and professional skills, including writing, speaking, research, and critical thinking, alongside introductory studies in programming, information technology, engineering, and mathematics. The second year advances technical expertise through subjects such as C++, Java, Linux, and object-oriented programming, with opportunities to specialise in areas aligned with future degree pathways. The program concludes with industrial training, providing valuable hands-on experience and ensuring graduates are industry-ready.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the minimum academic and English language entry requirements for admission. For academic qualifications, SPM applicants are required to obtain at least three credits, including English and Mathematics. Candidates applying with STPM must achieve a minimum Grade C with a CGPA of 2.0 in any subject, along with a credit in Mathematics at SPM level. Applicants holding GCE O’ Level qualifications must have at least three credits, including Mathematics. UEC applicants are required to obtain B4 in three relevant academic subjects, including English and Mathematics. In addition, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through one of the accepted qualifications. This includes an overall IELTS score of 5.0 with a minimum of 5.0 in all bands, a TOEFL score of 42, or a PTE Academic score of 36. Applicants may also qualify with a Linguaskill total score of at least 154, with no individual score below 147. Alternatively, a grade C in SPM English, a grade D in IGCSE or GCE O’ Level English, MUET Band 3.5 with a minimum aggregate score of 188, or UEC English at B4 level is accepted.
