Course Overview

Study accounting practice, business law, auditing, taxation and financial management. You’ll learn about accounting principles, financial statements, compliance with accounting standards and regulations. In this double major, you’ll gain a broad understanding of the structure and operations of financial markets. In the accounting major, you will have a sound foundation in accounting, auditing, taxation and relevant areas of business law and financial management, and be able to apply to knowledge across a range of accounting contexts. The finance major gives you a broad understanding of the structure and operations of financial markets. You’ll learn about investment evaluation and how to make decisions on funding activities and disbursement of profits. You’ll also examine the role of financial markets.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to meet both the English language proficiency and academic cut-off requirements for admission. For English proficiency, an overall score of 6.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required, with no individual band below 6.0. Alternatively, applicants may submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 68, with minimum component scores of Writing 21, Listening 13, Reading 13, and Speaking 18. Other recognised English qualifications include SPM 1119 English with a minimum grade of C, GCE ‘O’ Level English with a grade C, or GCE ‘A’ Level English with a grade E. In addition to English requirements, applicants must satisfy the academic cut-off scores based on their prior qualifications. These include a minimum score of 5 in GCE A-Level or STPM (best three subjects), 15 in UEC (best five selected subjects), 15 in HKDSE, and 24 in the International Baccalaureate (IB). Applicants must also achieve at least 60 in Ontario Grade 12 (best six subjects), an ATAR of 70 (including WACE, SACE, HCE, or VCE), or 54 in WAUFP (CPS). Country-specific requirements include a minimum of 60% for India (CBSE), 65% for India (HSC), 75% for Pakistan, and 5 for Sri Lanka.
