Course Overview

Graduates will possess a strong understanding of economic theories and the ability to critically apply them to analyse and address economic issues and challenges, considering the PESTEL dimensions (political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal). They will be capable of interpreting and communicating economic data effectively and responsibly, ensuring meaningful insights that reflect societal needs and well-being. Graduates will demonstrate creativity and innovation in generating impactful employment opportunities that support sustainable livelihoods. Furthermore, they will uphold professional ethics and values, contributing to integrity, responsibility, and the overall betterment of society.

Entry Requirements

Applicants may be admitted through several recognised academic pathways. Candidates who have completed a Matriculation or Foundation programme must have passed with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00, while certain entry routes require a higher minimum CGPA of 2.80, or an equivalent qualification. Applicants holding STPM or equivalent qualifications must achieve at least a Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two subjects, together with a credit in Mathematics and a pass in English at the SPM level or an equivalent qualification. Those with STAM are required to obtain a minimum grade of Jayyid, along with a credit in Mathematics and a pass in English at the SPM level or equivalent. Diploma holders may apply with a Diploma (MQF Level 4) or an Advanced Diploma (MQF Level 5) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, while applicants with Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM), Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM), or Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) must achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.50, subject to University Senate approval. Some admission routes require a higher minimum CGPA of 2.80, with an overall CGPA requirement of 2.80. In addition, applicants must meet the English language requirement, where local students must achieve MUET Band 2.0, and international students must obtain MUET Band 3.0, IELTS with a minimum overall band score of 5.5, or an equivalent recognised English proficiency qualification.
