Course Overview

AIMST University Malaysia’s Bachelor in Information Systems (Data Analytics) (Honours) is designed for students who want to sit at the intersection of business and technology, with a clear focus on turning data into decisions. You don’t just learn “analytics tools” — you build a full understanding of how information systems support real organisations, and how data moves from collection to insight. The programme covers strong foundations like computer systems, programming principles, discrete mathematics, computer networks, statistics, databases, and systems analysis & design, before moving into more specialised analytics areas. As you progress, the course takes you through data engineering, programming for data science, big data analytics, data modelling, web analytics, machine learning, text analytics, and data visualisation. You also explore practical, industry-facing subjects such as enterprise resource planning, enterprise architecture, electronic commerce, business analytics, and digital marketing, which helps you understand where analytics fits into operations and growth. With projects and industrial training included, graduates are prepared for roles linked to data, systems, and business performance in modern digital organisations.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold STPM/STAM or an equivalent qualification with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) in any two subjects and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent, or have completed Matriculation/Foundation studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level. Candidates with a Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field must obtain at least a CGPA of 2.5 with a Mathematics credit at SPM level, while those holding other Diplomas in Science, Technology, or Business Studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 may be considered subject to a rigorous internal assessment. Other qualifications will be evaluated and approved on a case-by-case basis.
