The programme provides students with the latest and in-depth knowledge in environmental technology and management. The emphasis is on current approaches in solving complex environmental issues and problems. These include environmental policy, pollution control, environmental management systems and waste management. In general, the objectives of the programme are to produce graduates who (i) understand the principles of environmental engineering; (ii) can practice in accordance to international standards in solving real world application problems; (iii) can plan, design, analyze, and implement environmental engineering projects; (iv) are able to communicate effectively in a team and with stakeholders; (v) can work independently and conduct lifelong learning and adapt readily to changing situations; and (vi) manage to demonstrate consistent professional ethics with high integrity.
The programme consists of 46 credits taught courses.
Compulsory University’s General Elective Courses
(Total: 6 credits)
All Core Courses are compulsory (Total: 18 credits)
For taught course: choose four courses from this program, or two from this program + two from other programs. (Total: 12 credits)
Masters Project for Taught Course (Total: 10 credits)
The Master Project is an independent project or research type work on topics that are relevant to environmental engineering or environmental management. The project topics have to be approved by the program panel and will be supervised by a member of the academic staff. The Master Project can also be developed based on student’s own experience in industry.
Applicants must have a Bachelor degree in engineering or the sciences with good honors, from UTM or other Institution of Higher Learning recognized by the University Senate. International applicants whose native language is not English must provide evidence of English language proficiency in addition to academic credentials. The minimum requirement is TOEFL PB 550/IBT 79/CBT 213 or IELTS Band Score 6.0
