Career Opportunity of Master of Applied Linguistics in Universiti Putra Malaysia UPM Malaysia

Candidates pursuing this programme are required to complete a minimum of 40 credits of graduate-level coursework. Credits are distributed among compulsory courses, elective courses and a research project as follows:

Compulsory Courses - 21 credits

Elective Courses - 12 credits

Research Project - 6 credits

Master’s Research Project Seminar - 1 credit

Entry Requirement of Master of Applied Linguistics in Universiti Putra Malaysia UPM Malaysia

For students from India

  • The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree (with honours) in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.000, or the applicant without sufficient academic qualification can be admitted into the programme subject to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute.
  • An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements.
  • English Language Requirements: International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Band 6.0; Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL), Paper Based - 550; 400 for Band 4.0 only for Malay language, Arabic, Chinese Literature, internet-based test (IBT)- 79-80.

For international students

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with Second Class honours (upper division) or a minimum CGPA of 2.75 in English language studies or English literature from recognised universities.
  • Applicants with a CGPA of less than 2.75 but not lower than 2.5, or Second Class honours (lower division) may be considered if they have relevant work experience (minimum 1 year), or publications and research experience in related fields.
