To produce graduates who are critical and analytical in thinking with strong knowledge grasp in food science area with emphasis on food safety and quality assurance for supporting continued advancement of food industry in Malaysia
Curriculum in this programme emphasizes on both theoretical and practical aspects where critical thinking, lifelong learning, ethics and professional morals, communication skills, and leadership and teamwork skills are parts of the important learning system. Students are required to prepare a dissertation and present scientific findings in the form of seminar and scholarly writing
Course contents are formed in line with latest development in food science involving knowledge application such as food innovations, food safety toxicology, current technology in food diagnostic as well as practiced food safety standard and regulation

For students from India
The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree (with honours) in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.000, or the applicant without sufficient academic qualification can be admitted into the programme subject to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute. An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements. English Language Requirements: International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Band 6.0; Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL), Paper Based - 550; 400 for Band 4.0 only for Malay language, Arabic, Chinese Literature, internet-based test (IBT)- 79-80.
For international students
The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree (with honours) in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.000, or
The applicant who has insufficient academic qualification can be admitted into the programme subjected to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute.
An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided that his latest CGPA or its equivalent academic result satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements.
