HELP UNIVERSITY RANKS No. 1 IN ASIA FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE

Kuala Lumpur, 25 November 2020 – HELP University has been ranked No. 1 among 650 universities in Asia for Outbound Student Exchange programmes in the globally recognized Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking: Asia 2021.

This ranking is awarded for world-class international student exchange programmes. The grouping of 650 Asian universities includes world-leading institutions in Singapore, China, Australia, New Zealand, India, Korea, and Japan.

Outbound Student Exchange programmes involve hundreds of HELP students who spend valuable study time with our international partners around the world including in Europe, Asia, and North America. Many of these students have earned prestigious scholarships to help them in their studies overseas.

HELP University is also ranked highly as a host for international students who want to study in Malaysia. We were ranked in the top 50 universities in Asia for international students as their preferred choice for our high-quality specialist disciplines, including our postgraduate programmes in psychology and business and our undergraduate programmes in law and data analytics.

We were ranked 100 for inbound student exchange programmes for those who choose our postgraduate courses and student mobility programmes. We are also seen as an attractive home for quality international academics and we are ranked 151 in Asia for international faculty.

These achievements firmly establish HELP University as an internationally recognized higher education provider driven by our welcoming, cosmopolitan culture and global curricula.

This is the first time that HELP University has taken part in the QS World University Ranking: Asia program and overall, we were ranked in the 401-450 category, placing us in the top 60% of Asian universities.

Earlier this year HELP University became the only university in Asia to achieve 5 Stars in 9 categories of the QS Stars Rating System which benchmarks universities against global best practices.

The QS Stars Rating confirms that HELP University delivers world-class standards in key areas including teaching, employability, internationalization, facilities and academic development. We also achieved a 5-Star rating in social responsibility and inclusiveness and in specialist areas such as business and management for our MBA programme and for online learning across all of our programmes.

HELP University President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Paul Chan is delighted with this achievement and said, “The ranking is a timely motivation for everyone at HELP and a strong catalyst for us to excel.”

“We shall do better in the year ahead. I am confident we shall rise higher in the overall ranking. We are now implementing our Digital Transformation programme and this will enhance the quality of our leadership and management, academic practices, delivery pedagogy and research output,” he added.

“We are investing a huge sum in staff development and training as part of our aspiration to create the “Analytics Generation” or “A*Gen”, and we have been recognised as a Premier Digital Tech University (PDTU) by MDEC for the use of technology in our programmes,” said Chan.

Professor Chan also expressed his pride in HELP University’s recent achievement in the Alibaba e-Commerce competition where HELP University became the 2020 National Champion in Malaysia.

Dr Chan congratulated and thanked the core team that includes Professor Geoffrey Williams (Project Advisor), Fiona Woo, Group Vice President for International Marketing and Franchise, and Liz Quah, Director of Management Information Systems, for their contribution.

On the implication of this No. 1 ranking for international marketing, Fiona Woo commented: “The recognition powers our global presence and our internationalization effort. There are many overtures from international institutions for collaboration, and we are actively exploring disruptive ways to expand our global market.”
